The German higher education landscape is a colourful one. Nationwide there is a choice of 400 universities of a very high level at which you can study. Choosing the right study course is therefore perhaps not so easy. Here you can find the most important websites and tips for your search for a study place.
1. Just one minister has a non-German parent.
Germany. In his inaugural speech, the new German Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas emphasized Germany’s growing responsibility in the world. No one needs German foreign policy that overestimates its own reach, the SPD politician said at the inaugural ceremony at the German Federal Foreign Office. “But in this global situation, foreign policy which shirks its duties is just as wrong, and possibly even more dangerous,” he continued.

Germany. According to a report in the current issue of “akzente”, the magazine of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), “the textile industry in Ethiopia is booming”. Some 350,000 jobs are going to be created by 2022. To this end, the government is having industrial parks built. “In Hawassa, a city with 300,000 inhabitants around 270 kilometres south of the capital Addis Ababa, the plan has already borne fruit. Eighteen international textile companies have set up shop there, and 20,000 jobs have been created.”
Germany. Nearly 27.5 million people in Germany are members of a sports club – roughly one in three. All kinds of things need to be organised in the clubs, such as finances, training schedules and equipment. For the most part this tends to be done by volunteers rather than paid staff.
